Rabobank is the Netherlands' second largest bank, with over €600bn in assets and 43,000 employees across 38 countries.
Challenge
Rabobank recognizes the need to become a data-driven enterprise where employees leverage data to support every aspect of their work. The challenge then was to build a robust data-driven culture, underpinned by skills that enables Rabobank to get reliable insights and create value for its clients – all while being aware of the risks that must be mitigated.
Solution
Rabobank worked with GAIN to develop an Enterprise Data Literacy program to embed the skills to read, write, and speak data and analytics in the organization. Together, they collaborated on a pilot program to establish a shared language and common concepts, values, and behaviors across the bank. This initiated a multi-year journey towards data and analytics literacy. To that end, they identified the audience, created personas, planned and optimized for scalability. GAIN also helped Rabobank train early data and analytics literacy adopters and ambassadors, who then became trainers, integrating this knowledge within the organization.
Outcome
Rabobank aims to deliver the data and analytics literacy program to 17,500 employees, with 7,500 participating in classroom programs and the remainder trained through e-learning. 40% of the in classroom trainings are focused on the 4 persons created in collaboration with GAIN. Launched in 2021, the program was fully operational with around 1,000 participants completing classroom training by 2023. An in-house team of 35 trainers was selected, trained, and certified. We are now on track to achieve the target by 2025.
