Rewire Hosts “Power of Europe Hackathon” to showcase Europe’s AI strength

Rewire convenes makers and technologists to accelerate impact with European-built AI.

Amsterdam, 8 July 2025. Amsterdam-based AI consultancy Rewire today announced the launch of the Power of Europe Hackathon, a full-day event dedicated to building practical AI solutions with European technology. The hackathon, taking place at Rewire’s new Amsterdam headquarters on July 26, brings together developers, researchers, and entrepreneurs to turn ideas into working prototypes.

Unlike traditional conferences, the event has no keynote speeches or panels. Instead, participants will dive straight into hands-on collaboration, exploring technologies such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI agents, and fine-tuned large language models (LLMs).

“Europe has incredible AI talent and tools, but too often the spotlight is elsewhere,” said Wouter Huygen, CEO of Rewire. “This hackathon is about showing that Europe can build world-class AI—and putting those capabilities into action.”

The event is supported by leading European technology partners, including Mistral AI, Weaviate, Koyeb, Orq AI, and Kilo Code AI, alongside innovation communities such as Tech Makers, Build Europe, and AI for Good.

Why it matters
AI adoption is growing rapidly worldwide, but the conversation is often dominated by US and Chinese players. The Power of Europe Hackathon highlights an alternative path: open, collaborative, and European-led innovation. By focusing on real use cases—from smarter business tools to more accessible public services—the event aims to accelerate how Europe’s AI ecosystem delivers impact.
