In this article published on Emerce, Rewire CEO Wouter Huygen argues that replacing people with AI agents is the wrong ambition as it optimises existing processes rather than reimagining them. He makes the case for AI-native working: rebuilding core processes from scratch around AI, rather than adding AI tools to existing workflows. The analogy is the electric motor, which only delivered truly disruptive results once factories stopped using it to replicate steam-powered layouts and instead redesigned the entire production floor. The real question for C-suite leaders, Huygen concludes, is which part of the organisation they are willing to reinvent entirely by starting small — but with radical goals.
